The WordPress 2.5 demo site is now available. You can take a short glance on what will be the new look of WordPress on the next version. As WordPress announced before that they will skip WordPress 2.4 and instead release WordPress 2.5 for the convenience of all users.

WordPress 2.5 seems to have a lot of new features. The new dashboard design really seduced me. It was so perfect since I’m already bored with their present design. It’s been more than so many years that my eyes see it. We want a change! I’m sure that everyone is very excited for the releasing of WordPress 2.5.

So there will be a skipping of version? I just got a news from my dashboard that WordPress will have the next version of WordPress 2.5 instead of having WordPress 2.4. They announced last December that they will release WordPress 2.4 with all new features this January 2008. But now, there will be no releasing of new version of WordPress this month instead on March.

As discussed in the developer mailing list, the next release of WordPress will be in March instead of January because of the holidays and the amount of changes that will take place in the codebase as well as the admin section. The decision was made to consider 2.4 a skipped December release and move straight on to 2.5. The reasons for the change in the schedule include some good things cooking in the oven and the developers do not want this to become a rushed release.

So to sum things up. There will be no 2.4. Instead, we will see 2.5 which is scheduled for release in March. Various official docs and roadmaps will be updated in due course.

Maybe they are right with this decision. Of course we don’t want a blog with lot of bugs. Hope that what we expect in WordPress 2.4 would be better in WordPress 2.5. We salute you WordPress team for making this all possible. We are looking forward on more updates and upgrades.

WordPress has an urgent security release that fix some bugs from 2.3.1. The most highlighted update here is about the database error. It now allows us to define a custom database error page. Place your custom template at wp-content/db-error.php. If WP has a problem connecting to your database, this page will displayed rather than the default error message.
